Well before internationally-acclaimed chef Guillaume Brahimi was creating dishes to mesmerise MasterChef viewers, those in the know were experiencing culinary fare like no other at his iconic restaurant Bennelong, located in the Sydney Opera House.
The final bill might not be for the faint hearted but the experience definitely falls into the ‘once in a lifetime’ category for both cuisine and setting. Leading international title Conde Nast Traveller listed the restaurant in its top 50 restaurants in the world and it has been lauded by local and international critics with a host of other awards under its crisp linen table cloths.
The space is perfect for a date as you sit “beneath Jorn Utzon’s vaulted concrete ribs” within an intimate booth setting. Seamless service add to the perfect atmosphere for a truly memorable night looking out across to the Bridge, Royal Botannic Gardens and Circular Quay.
If you are wine buff you might like to read up in advance as there are over 400 on the menu from both Australia and France but if not, never fear, their team of sommeliers will have you sampling from a hand-picked selection tailored to your meal.
If you are rolling at the top end of town and money isn’t a consideration we recommend taking in a show at the Opera House, private box of course! Then a romantic moonlit stroll by the water around to a suite at the Park Hyatt… or for those a little weary a chauffeur driven car transfer post-show will close the evening in serious style.
